Thirty years after the original, adidas reissues the Predator Touch in black, white and red. The oversized fold-over tongue is back, with a modern soleplate underneath.

Long before the Mania or the Accelerator, there was the adidas Predator Touch. Released in 1996, it had rubber fins across the forefoot, white Three Stripes against black leather and a red tongue that folded down over the laces. You could pick it out on Match of the Day. Up close, it was the boot you wanted to get your hands on in the sports shop.
The adidas Predator 96 Remake brings the Touch back for its 30th anniversary. From above, it’s the pair you remember. Turn it over and you can see where adidas has updated it. The current Predator 26 soleplate replaces the original Traxion design, with a black-to-white fade and three claw-like stripes at the forefoot that echo the ’96 pair.
It helps that the original belonged to such a summer. Gazza flicked the ball over Colin Hendry and volleyed past Andy Goram at Euro 96. In August, David Beckham scored from inside his own half against Wimbledon wearing the Touch. Zinedine Zidane wore it too, the year he joined Juventus. For a generation who watched them, that flash of red over the laces still says 1996.
The adidas Predator Touch 96 Limited Collection goes on sale on 4 November 2026 at Pro:Direct Soccer.
