Racing Santander – Promotion 2025–26 by photographer Varrager, tells one of the most powerful stories in modern football. Presented as an A5 photo zine featuring over 50 striking film photographs across 52 pages, the edition documents Real Racing Club de Santander’s extraordinary journey back to La Liga through the perspective of its supporters.

As one of the ten founding clubs of La Liga, Racing Santander holds an important place in Spanish football history. But this project is not simply about legacy – it is about survival, identity and resistance. Following disastrous ownership at the end of the 2011–12 season, the club spiralled from Spain’s top flight into the second division, then the third, and dangerously close to the fourth.

Racing Santander – Promotion 2025-26 | Varrager
An A5 photo zine featuring over 50 striking film photographs across 52 pages, documenting Real Racing Club de Santander’s extraordinary journey back to La Liga. Shot from inside La Gradona, the series captures the supporters, emotion and atmosphere behind one of Spanish football’s most powerful stories of survival, loyalty and revival.
With the institution collapsing from within, it was the supporters who refused to let Racing disappear.
Varrager’s photographic series captures that story from inside La Gradona, Racing’s legendary supporters’ stand at El Sardinero. Rather than focusing on the football itself, he turns his lens toward the people, the emotion and the atmosphere that carried the club through years of uncertainty and ultimately back to the top.

The result is a powerful visual record of devotion, loyalty and belonging. On promotion day at the end of the 2025-26 season, El Sardinero was packed with 22,000 supporters-every frame capturing a club and a city reclaiming its place.
