Football culture moves quickly. Seasons pass, players change, stadiums redevelop, communities evolve. The challenge is not just to photograph football culture, but to preserve it properly.

Italian photojournalist Imma Rhamely Borrelli documents Genoa and the terraces of Marassi during Sampdoria v Bari, focusing on the rituals, atmosphere and architecture around the match. The work centres on football culture beyond the pitch.

Some of football’s strongest visual identity is created away from official branding. It exists on the margins – in scarves, banners, graffiti, and the collective styling of supporter groups.

Across Europe’s biggest leagues, the image is unmistakable: red flares burning through thick smoke, terraces alive with colour and chaos – a visual language that sells football to the world.
