Stone Island has unveiled its Spring/Summer 2025 collection under the “Community as a Form of Research” banner, bringing together a cast of cultural icons, including legendary filmmaker Spike Lee, UK musicians John Glacier and Giggs, and former Japanese footballer Hidetoshi Nakata. The collection pushes Stone Island’s technological evolution forward, showcasing four meticulously crafted jackets that blend innovation with the brand’s signature utilitarian aesthetic.

Nakata’s inclusion in the campaign cements Stone Island’s deep-rooted connection with football culture. The former Japan international was a standout talent in Serie A during the early 2000s, enjoying spells with Parma, Roma, Fiorentina, and Bologna before finishing his career at Bolton Wanderers under Sam Allardyce. At Bolton, Nakata played alongside Wanderers’ cult favourites such as Ivan Campo and Jay-Jay Okocha, further linking his legacy to the football fashion movement that has long embraced Stone Island.

For decades, Stone Island has been synonymous with the football terrace scene, where its technical garments became a staple for style-conscious fans across Europe. The brand’s mix of high-performance fabrics, military-inspired silhouettes, and experimental dyeing techniques resonated deeply with supporters looking for both function and statement-making fashion. Nakata, who brought his own flair and elegance to football, perfectly embodies the fusion of sport and style that Stone Island represents.

The collection itself sees a continuation of the brand’s technological advancements. Nakata wears a military-inspired, four-pocket jacket finished in Laser Camo over Stone Island’s revered Raso Gommato fabric. Lee, meanwhile, is seen in a Metal Cover jacket with a striking silver polyurethane film finish. Giggs and Glacier showcase UV-reactive technology, with pigments woven into their garments that shift under different lighting conditions.

As Stone Island continues to push the boundaries of fashion and innovation, the Spring/Summer 2025 collection reinforces its enduring influence on football, music, and global street culture. The campaign was shot by renowned fashion photographer David Sims.
