Umbro’s footballing heritage runs deep. From the pitch to the terraces, the Double Diamond has long defined the culture and style of the game. Now, in collaboration with Danish outerwear specialists Rains, Umbro introduces a lifestyle capsule that thrives in the elements while reimagining the uniform of modern football.
Titled APPLY PRESSURE, the limited-edition collection fuses Umbro’s iconic silhouettes with Rains’ sharp, minimal design language. At its core is a reworking of Umbro classics like the Drill Top, Apollo Suit, and Fusion Sneakers, all rebuilt with Rains’ technical materials. Waterproof PU with a textured finish references football’s gritty surfaces, while UV-protective lightweight layers prepare fans for everything from bogged-up Sunday league to Tuesday nights under the floodlights.
Footwear also gets a fresh look. The Rains x Umbro trainer, inspired by Umbro’s Fusion, debuts as a low-profile trainer with exposed stitching – Rains’ second-ever trainer, and the first born from a collaboration with a sportswear giant.
The aesthetic is subtle but strong. Muted blacks, charcoals, and navies replace brash graphics and bold colours. Instead, presence is found in detail: taped seams, matte finishes, and silhouettes that echo sideline archetypes – the Manager Coat, the Fan Puffer, the Apollo Cape. The collection captures the atmosphere of football in its rawest form: the rain, the mud, the cold, translated into contemporary streetwear.
