In a historic offering for football fans and collectors alike, Sotheby’s has announced the upcoming auction of Real Madrid’s first-team changing room lockers from the iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. This sale offers a rare chance to own a piece of football history tied to some of the sport’s most celebrated figures, including Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, and Luís Figo – members of Real Madrid’s legendary galácticos era.
As one of the world’s most celebrated and successful clubs, Real Madrid has left an indelible mark on football, with a legacy of global titles and legendary players. The upcoming auction, open for bidding online from November 12, marks the first time a European championship team’s locker room has been made available to the public. Each of the 24 lockers up for bid, starting at £10,000, will come as it appeared during the 2022 season, along with a certificate listing the iconic players who used it over the years. This changing room has seen countless moments of triumph, hosting Real Madrid’s greatest talents through 544 games and 20 major trophies, including six UEFA Champions League and six La Liga titles.
In addition to the lockers, the auction will include a large mosaic from the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, as well as iconic stadium doors, with bids starting at £12,000 and £8,000, respectively. These items offer fans a rare chance to glimpse and own a piece of the atmosphere that has inspired Real Madrid’s unmatched success.
Thousands of other items from the iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium will also be offered on the Official RMCF Memorabilia website.
Sotheby’s free exhibition of these artefacts will take place at their New Bond Street Galleries in London from November 20 to 26, welcoming fans and collectors from around the globe to experience the history and prestige of Real Madrid up close.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit The Real Madrid Foundation, an organisation committed to promoting social inclusion and children’s education worldwide. The sale follows a successful auction of Kobe Bryant’s Staples Center locker, highlighting Sotheby’s emerging role in making sports memorabilia from iconic teams and athletes accessible to fans and collectors.
This auction promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Real Madrid fans to own a piece of the club’s storied legacy and relive the memories forged by football’s greatest icons.
