adidas SPZL returns for Spring/Summer 2025 with a fresh collection that celebrates the brand’s cultural legacy while pushing archival designs into the future. Curated by Gary Aspden, this season’s collection showcases a refined mix of reimagined footwear silhouettes and apparel staples, embodying the essence of adidas’ past, present, and future. The collection is brought to life through a striking campaign featuring British actor and longtime adidas supporter James Nelson-Joyce.

The footwear selection features six standout styles, each paying homage to an iconic adidas silhouette with a contemporary twist. Leading the pack is the TRX Mesh SPZL, a modern reinterpretation of the classic TRX, maintaining its bold blue and yellow colour scheme while introducing a refreshed upper pattern.

The Handball Cup SPZL merges mid-80s handball designs, incorporating elements from the 1983 Handball Spezial and Handball Top to create a retro-inspired sneaker with a red-accented leather overlay, suede upper, and gum rubber outsole.

Further exploring adidas’ heritage, the Failsworth SPZL re-contextualises the rare adidas Barbados design. With its low-profile suede build and T-toe construction, inspired by the Universal SL, the shoe adopts a muted colour palette enhanced by vintage ‘Made in France’ branding.

The Roelee SPZL continues this remix ethos as the successor to the Whalley SPZL. Combining foxing details from the Gazelle SPZL with a modified upper, the shoe features a distinctive extended T-toe overlay that runs through to the heel.

Inspired by a rare archival Philippine-made model, the Pampanga SPZL revives the Adidas Squire with a vintage outsole and a refined, tighter toebox.

Lastly, the A Aspden SPZL bridges tennis heritage with a personal tribute. Using the Las Palmas silhouette as a foundation, this hybrid design incorporates classic 70s court shoe elements. The shoe’s defining feature is the signature of Gary Aspden’s late father, a hand engraver, honouring his craftsmanship and era-appropriate aesthetics.

Beyond footwear, adidas Spezial’s SS25 apparel collection builds upon its established design language. The Halewood SPZL Parka leads the lineup with lightweight nylon construction and a large tonal back logo in forest green and black. Other highlights include the Billinge SPZL Hoodie, Brockhall SPZL Tee, and Mod SPZL Tee, all showcasing Spezial’s signature style.

Sport-inspired pieces such as the Hudswell SPZL Jacket and Shorts incorporate ripstop fabrics, while the Salesbury SPZL Trousers offer a relaxed, tapered fit with zip pockets. The Wardour SPZL Vest adapts the sought-after Wardour jacket into a versatile sleeveless layer.

Accessories include the ST10 SPZL Bag and Hip Bag, inspired by the classic ST rain jackets, as well as the Mod Trefoil SPZL Cap and socks.

Bringing the collection to life, adidas Spezial’s latest campaign features British actor and longtime Adidas fan James Nelson-Joyce. Directed by Nick Griffiths and produced by &SON, the visuals are accompanied by photography from legendary music photographer Kevin Cummins.

The adidas Spezial Spring/Summer 2025 collection drops on March 27 2025 in limited quantities via Confirmed and select retailers.
