ULTRAS Italia 2024–25 is a photographic documentary that delves deep into the world of Italian ultras, capturing their passion, ritual, and defiant spirit. From the terraces of Rome and Naples to stadiums across the peninsula, the project reveals a subculture defined by loyalty, intensity, and belonging.

Created by reportage photographer Imma Rhamely Borrelli, based in Torre Annunziata near Naples, the work continues her ongoing pursuit of authenticity and emotional truth through photography. For Borrelli, the camera is both witness and participant – an instrument for recording the power of moments that stir the senses and illuminate human connection. In this series, she steps beyond the edge of the pitch to explore the heart of the curva: a place where faith, choreography, rivalry, and friendship fuse into something both tribal and poetic.

The limited edition A5 zine features 47 photographs in colour and black and white, presented across 48 pages. Each image offers a fragment of a larger story – smoke-filled stands, banners raised to the sky, faces lit by flares, and the quiet aftermath when the chants fade.

As Borrelli explains, “My journalistic eye is fascinated by the details that uniquely define the ‘rebels of the stadiums’ – a world of stubborn belonging, shaped by rites, chants, choreography, faith, rivalries, journeys, smoke bombs, joy, and sorrow.” She continues, “I have fallen in love with this world and with this kind of photography. I am inside the mentality, and I have no intention of stopping.”
