Photographer Alessandro Cangiano Captures Napoli’s Scudetto Euphoria
In a stunning series of black and white photographs, Italian photographer Alessandro Cangiano has captured the raw emotion and chaos of Napoli fans flooding the streets of Naples to celebrate their fourth Serie A title.

Following a 2-0 victory over Cagliari, which sealed the championship, the city erupted. Scotland’s Scott McTominay, a summer signing from Manchester United, opened the scoring with a spectacular scissor-kick volley. Romelu Lukaku secured the win with a late goal, igniting wild celebrations both on the pitch and across the city.
Napoli had to win, with Inter Milan simultaneously leading at Como, and the atmosphere at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona was electric. When the final whistle blew, Naples was consumed by fireworks, flares, scooter horns, and uncontainable joy.
Through his lens, Cangiano — a lifelong Napoli supporter — immortalised this moment in time.
“I’m from and live in Naples. My passion is photography. I love storytelling, the emotion, the moments,” he said. “Napoli for me is about belonging, it’s the root. It was all beautiful, especially after Napoli scored… before there was a beautiful atmosphere but also tension. Documenting these moments is always beautiful. Every picture can tell one precious moment in time.”
“I have been a fan of Napoli since I was a child. I used to watch the matches with my family when Alfredo Aglietti, André Cruz, and Beto played for Napoli. This is all before Napoli was relegated to Serie B and then went bankrupt, finding ourselves in Serie C, playing against Martina Franca.”
From saltire flags waving through blue smoke to generations of fans embracing in the streets, Cangiano’s photos preserve the spirit of a city united in triumph.
