Manchester City and PUMA have unveiled its 4th kit for 2024/25 season, a special edition ‘Definitely City’ kit, marking the 30th anniversary of Oasis’ iconic album Definitely Maybe. This collaboration with Oasis’ Noel Gallagher is a celebration of both the legendary band and the city of Manchester, melding football and music into a distinctive fashion statement.

The new kit draws direct inspiration from the cover of Definitely Maybe, an album that not only defined a generation but also encapsulates the spirit of Manchester. The jersey features a light straw base colour, reminiscent of the album’s hues, complemented by bold blue side panels and sleeves. Subtle poppy pink detailing on the cuffs and panels adds a modern twist to the retro design.

Intricate marine blue supersonic waves adorn the jersey, paying homage to the album’s distinctive colour palette and adding a unique flair that sets this kit apart. As Gallagher himself notes, the colour choices are deliberately aligned with the iconic imagery of Definitely Maybe, ensuring that the kit is as striking as it is nostalgic.

The Definitely City collection extends beyond the jersey, showcasing a full range of apparel that includes a Track Jacket and Pants, Overshirt, Bomber Jacket, Tee, Polo, Retro Jersey, and Drill Top. Each piece reflects Gallagher’s personal touch and the aesthetic of Oasis, providing fans with a comprehensive set of items that celebrate both Manchester City and the band.

The launch was complemented by a special photoshoot set in a living room recreated to match the iconic album cover. Manchester City players Kyle Walker, Jess Park, Mateo Kovacic, and Ederson, along with manager Pep Guardiola and Noel Gallagher, posed in this nostalgic setting. The imagery captures the essence of the collaboration, blending football prowess with musical legacy.

Gallagher, who has been a supporter of Manchester City since the 1970s, expressed his pride and excitement about the project. In an interview with City Studios, he reflected on the experience of co-designing the kit, stating, “It’s a proper honour. When the guys from PUMA approached us at one of the games, I took about five seconds to agree to it.”

He continued, “It’s the same colour palette as the cover of Definitely Maybe. I think it’s unique, but it’s definitely striking and I think it looks great. When you see people represent your Club, it’s important that they look good.”

Gallagher’s deep connection with Manchester City is well-known, and his enthusiasm for the current team’s success under Pep Guardiola is palpable. “I’ve been supporting City for 50 years and the last decade this has been stuff that dreams are made of,” he said. Reflecting on a memorable moment when Kevin De Bruyne handed him a beer in the dressing room after a crucial win, Gallagher conveyed his genuine appreciation for the club and its players.

The Definitely City kit will make its debut in select European fixtures, starting with the match against Inter Milan on Wednesday. This exclusive release highlights Manchester City’s continued commitment to blending tradition with innovation, while honoring the rich cultural tapestry of its home city.

The Definitely City kit not only celebrates the legacy of Oasis but also underscores Manchester City’s distinctive identity, intertwining music and football in a way that resonates deeply with fans.
